My name is Vicki and in 1979 (the year of my birth) people from Croydon didn’t generally go on a ‘gap year’, not in my family anyway. Instead these were the exotic stories told by others that got more and more frequent by the time I reached university in the late 1990s and even then I hadn’t even been outside of Europe.
Describe a Thai beach to me and I was your captive listener unable to grasp the concept of white sands. Tell me about backpacking around Australia and I would think “…but how would you be able to pack enough knickers for a 6 month trip???” I really was clueless.
However, I did catch-up once I met my husband Josh and in the past 10 years that we have been together, we have had some of the most amazing trips imaginable, so fantastic in fact that I felt it was time to share some of them. Not because I want to brag or show off but to hopefully inspire people out there (if anyone kindly reads this blog) to do their own wacky adventures
…and that’s how Way Out Far began back in 2012.
We have driven around half of Australia, back-packed around SE Asia, drove from the UK to Mongolia and even driven a rickshaw 4000km across India (on our honeymoon no less), plus taken a tonne of road trips and I want to share some of our stories before I get old and forget them. I also suspect that we’ll do a few more and this blog should continue to inspire us to have that drive.
If you like what you read, please say hi and share your own stories and remember:
